We pick up from 239 hotels across 14 zones covering greater Los Angeles and Anaheim. This guide goes beyond the hotel list — for each zone we've written a detailed breakdown of the neighbourhood itself, what guests staying there can expect, and what makes each area unique. Use the search to find your hotel, or click a zone to jump directly to the neighbourhood guide.
Hotels in Anaheim and the Disneyland area are served by our LA Tour from Anaheim. All other zones are served by our LA City Tour. Both tours cover Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Venice Beach, the Farmers Market, and Santa Monica Pier.
🏁 Anaheim / Disneyland
Anaheim is the undisputed theme park capital of Southern California — home to Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, and the sprawling Disneyland Resort complex that draws tens of millions of visitors every year. But Anaheim is also the perfect launching pad for a day in Los Angeles, sitting just 30 miles southeast of Hollywood via the I-5 freeway.
Guests staying in the Anaheim and Disneyland area are typically here for multiple days at the parks, and we strongly recommend dedicating at least one full day to experiencing the real Los Angeles beyond the resort bubble. Our LA Tour from Anaheim does exactly that — hotel pickup from your Disneyland-area hotel starting at 7:00 AM, a full 8-9 hours exploring the city, and a dropoff back at your hotel in the early evening.
About the Area
The Anaheim area stretches along Harbor Blvd and Disneyland Drive, with hotels ranging from the official Disney properties right on resort property to hundreds of independent and chain hotels within walking distance of the park gates. The Anaheim Convention Center draws major trade shows and events throughout the year, and the Anaheim Garden Walk outdoor shopping centre — our meeting point at 321 W Katella Ave — is just minutes from most Anaheim hotels.
Beyond the parks, Anaheim has its own character worth exploring: the Honda Center (home of the Anaheim Ducks), Angel Stadium of Anaheim (home of the LA Angels), and a growing dining scene around the Packing District food hall on Anaheim Blvd.

🎬 Universal / North Hollywood
North Hollywood sits in the San Fernando Valley, just over the Hollywood Hills from the city's famous entertainment district. The area is anchored by Universal Studios Hollywood — one of the world's largest working movie studios and theme parks — and is home to a thriving arts and entertainment community that has grown significantly in recent years.
The NoHo Arts District, centered on Lankershim Blvd, is one of LA's most underrated neighbourhoods — packed with independent theatres, art galleries, vintage shops, and some genuinely excellent restaurants. It's a working creative community rather than a tourist attraction, which gives it an authenticity that many more famous LA neighbourhoods lack.
About the Area
Universal City Walk, adjacent to Universal Studios, offers dining, shopping, and entertainment for guests staying in this zone. The area has excellent freeway access — the 101 and 134 connect directly to Hollywood, Downtown LA, and the Westside — making it a convenient base for exploring the wider city.
The Metro Red Line stops at Universal City station, providing direct rail access to Hollywood and Downtown LA, though our tour offers a far more comprehensive experience of the city than public transit allows.

🎥 East Hollywood
East Hollywood encompasses some of LA's most culturally rich and architecturally interesting neighbourhoods — including Los Feliz, Silver Lake, and Echo Park. This is where LA's creative class lives: musicians, writers, filmmakers, and artists drawn by the relatively affordable rents (by LA standards), the beautiful 1920s and 1930s bungalow architecture, and the vibrant independent business scene.
Los Feliz in particular sits at the foot of Griffith Park, making it one of the best-located neighbourhoods in the city for both urban amenities and outdoor access. Vermont Ave and Hillhurst Ave are lined with excellent independent restaurants, coffee shops, bookstores, and bars that serve the neighbourhood's young professional and creative population.
About the Area
Silver Lake — just south of Los Feliz — is equally compelling. The Silver Lake Reservoir sits at the heart of the neighbourhood, surrounded by hiking paths and mid-century modern architecture. Sunset Junction, where Sunset Blvd and Santa Monica Blvd cross, is the neighbourhood's commercial heart and one of the best stretches for food and drinks in all of LA.
Guests staying in East Hollywood are very close to Griffith Park and the Observatory — one of the tour's key stops — and are well-positioned for an early pickup that gets the group ahead of the morning traffic.

🌟 Hollywood
Hollywood is the neighbourhood that put Los Angeles on the map — the global capital of the film and television industry, and home to some of the most recognisable landmarks in the world. Hollywood Blvd, the Walk of Fame, Grauman's Chinese Theatre, the Dolby Theatre, the Capitol Records Building, the Hollywood Hills — these aren't just tourist attractions, they're living parts of a neighbourhood that still drives the global entertainment industry.
Guests staying in Hollywood are already at the centre of one of the tour's key stops. The energy of the neighbourhood is electric — there's always something happening on Hollywood Blvd, from tour groups photographing celebrity handprints at the Chinese Theatre to aspiring actors handing out headshots to casting directors outside industry offices.
About the Area
The Hollywood Hills rise dramatically above the boulevard, offering some of the most dramatic views of the Los Angeles basin from residential streets that wind through the hills above the city. Runyon Canyon Park — one of LA's most popular hiking destinations — sits just north of Hollywood Blvd and offers accessible trails with stunning city views.
East of the main tourist strip, Hollywood transitions into a more residential neighbourhood with excellent dining along Franklin Ave and a thriving independent music scene. The Pantages Theatre on Hollywood Blvd is one of LA's most beautiful performance venues, hosting major Broadway touring productions throughout the year.

🌴 West Hollywood
West Hollywood — universally known as WeHo — is one of LA's most vibrant, stylish, and culturally significant cities. Incorporated separately from Los Angeles in 1984, WeHo has its own city government, its own distinct character, and a reputation for excellence in food, nightlife, design, and culture that draws visitors from around the world.
The Sunset Strip — the stretch of Sunset Blvd that runs through West Hollywood — is legendary. The Roxy, the Whisky a Go Go, Chateau Marmont, the Comedy Store, the Rainbow Bar and Grill — these venues have hosted every major name in rock, comedy, and entertainment over the past 60 years and continue to be central to LA's live entertainment scene.
About the Area
Santa Monica Blvd through WeHo is lined with world-class restaurants, luxury boutiques, and design showrooms. The Pacific Design Center — three massive buildings clad in blue, green, and red glass — anchors the design district and houses hundreds of trade showrooms. The area around Melrose Ave is equally compelling for fashion, with independent boutiques mixing with vintage shops and international brands.
West Hollywood's location between Hollywood and Beverly Hills makes it an ideal base — guests are typically picked up between 8:15 and 8:45 AM, and the neighbourhood's restaurant scene is perfect for dinner after the tour returns.

💎 Beverly Hills
Beverly Hills is one of the most famous addresses in the world — and guests staying here are already living the 90210 dream. This small, immaculately maintained city of just 5.7 square miles encompasses Rodeo Drive, the Beverly Hills Hotel, and some of the most expensive residential real estate on the planet. The manicured palm-lined streets, the Rolls-Royces idling at valet stands, the discreet security cameras outside celebrity estates — it's exactly what you'd imagine, and somehow more impressive in person.
For guests joining our LA City Tour from Beverly Hills, you're already at one of the day's key stops. Your guide will narrate a detailed exploration of the neighbourhood before the group moves on to other parts of the city.
About the Area
Rodeo Drive is the obvious centrepiece, but Beverly Hills has depth beyond the shopping street. Lining the residential blocks north of Sunset Blvd are the estates of Hollywood's biggest names — glimpsed through iron gates and mature hedges, these are the homes that defined the concept of celebrity wealth. Canon Drive and Bedford Drive through the "flats" of Beverly Hills are quieter but equally beautiful.
The Beverly Hills Farmers Market (Tuesday and Sunday mornings on 9300 Civic Center Drive) is one of the best in the city — all organic, all California-grown, and attended by locals rather than tourists. If you're in Beverly Hills on a market morning, it's worth an early visit before your tour pickup.

🏙️ Century City
Century City is one of LA's most striking urban environments — a cluster of sleek skyscrapers and luxury developments built on what was once the back lot of 20th Century Fox studios. Today the studio still operates on part of the original site, while the surrounding blocks have become one of LA's premier business and residential districts.
The neighbourhood is anchored by Westfield Century City — one of LA's best shopping centres, comprehensively renovated in 2017 into a genuinely beautiful open-air retail experience with excellent dining, Eataly, and a diverse mix of brands from luxury to high street.
About the Area
Century City's towers house the headquarters of major entertainment, law, and financial firms, giving the area a polished, professional energy that contrasts with the more bohemian neighbourhoods nearby. The Avenue of the Stars runs through the heart of the district.
The location is genuinely excellent — Beverly Hills is a five-minute walk east, Century City's own shopping and dining is steps away, and Westwood and UCLA are minutes to the west. Guests staying here are very well-positioned for the LA City Tour, with pickup in the 8:30–9:00 AM window.

✈️ LAX Area (North)
The LAX North area — covering the neighbourhoods of Westchester, Playa del Rey, and El Segundo North — is primarily known as an airport hotel zone, but it's significantly better positioned than most visitors expect. Venice Beach is just 15 minutes up the coast, Santa Monica is 20 minutes, and the area has its own coastal character with Playa del Rey's small beach community sitting right at the edge of the Pacific.
Guests staying near LAX are typically here for the convenience of airport access rather than the neighbourhood itself — but the proximity to the Westside makes the LA City Tour work very well for this zone, with several of the tour's coastal stops (Venice Beach, Santa Monica Pier) just a short drive up the coast.
About the Area
Playa del Rey has a genuine beach town feel that most airport-area neighbourhoods entirely lack — a small walkable main street, beachfront restaurants, and a relaxed pace of life that's a million miles from the terminals nearby. The Ballona Wetlands — one of the last remaining coastal wetlands in Southern California — sit between Playa del Rey and Marina del Rey, offering excellent birdwatching and a surprising green space so close to the airport.
The LAX area has seen significant investment in recent years as the city prepares for the 2028 Olympics, with improved transit connections and hotel quality improving considerably.

✈️ LAX Area (South) / El Segundo
El Segundo and the LAX South zone sit at the northern edge of the South Bay — the string of beach cities that runs south from LAX through Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Redondo Beach. El Segundo itself is a small, walkable city with a genuine Main Street, excellent restaurants, and a strong local identity built around its aerospace industry heritage.
Guests staying in this zone often discover El Segundo is considerably more pleasant than they expected — the Main Street dining scene is genuinely excellent, the neighbourhood is walkable, and the beach at El Segundo is less crowded than the more famous South Bay beaches to the south.
About the Area
Manhattan Beach — just five minutes south — is one of LA's most beautiful beach communities: wide sandy beach, excellent surf, a charming downtown, and the Manhattan Beach Pier. If you have a free evening before or after your tour, walking down to Manhattan Beach for dinner is highly recommended.
The South Bay has a different energy from the rest of LA — more suburban, more athletic, more outdoors-focused. The Strand, the paved path that runs along the beach from Santa Monica to Torrance, passes right through this zone and is one of the best cycling and running routes in Southern California.

🎞️ Culver City
Culver City has undergone one of the most remarkable transformations of any neighbourhood in Los Angeles over the past decade. Once known primarily as the home of Sony Pictures Studios (the former MGM lot where classics from The Wizard of Oz to Singin' in the Rain were filmed), Culver City has become one of LA's most exciting dining, arts, and creative districts.
Amazon Studios, Apple TV+, and HBO all have major offices here, joining Sony in making Culver City a genuine rival to Hollywood as a creative industry hub. The influx of entertainment and tech companies has driven extraordinary investment in the neighbourhood's restaurants, galleries, and public spaces.
About the Area
Culver City's downtown, centred on Culver Blvd and Washington Blvd, is one of the best stretches for food and drink in all of LA. Destroyer, Gjusta, Margot, Clark Street Bread — these are names that serious food lovers know, and they're all within walking distance of each other. The Culver Steps development brought even more dining options to the area around the Sony lot.
The Museum of Jurassic Technology on Venice Blvd is one of LA's most unusual and beloved cultural institutions — a genuinely eccentric museum that defies easy description but rewards curious visitors. The Kirk Douglas Theatre is one of LA's premier mid-sized performance venues, bringing major theatrical productions to the neighbourhood.

🏛️ Westwood
Westwood is a charming, walkable neighbourhood centred on the UCLA campus — one of the most beautiful university campuses in America. The Westwood Village commercial district, just south of campus, has a genuine small-town feel with independent cinemas (the Fox Village and Bruin theatres are beloved LA institutions), restaurants, and shops serving the student and faculty population.
The neighbourhood is bordered by Bel Air to the north — the ultra-exclusive enclave of celebrity estates hidden behind gates and hedges in the hills above Sunset Blvd — and Beverly Hills to the east. This location makes Westwood one of the best-positioned neighbourhoods on the Westside for exploring the city.
About the Area
The UCLA campus itself is worth a visit — Royce Hall and Powell Library are architectural landmarks, and the campus sculpture garden contains important works by major artists. The Hammer Museum, affiliated with UCLA, offers free admission and regularly presents some of the most interesting contemporary art exhibitions in LA.
The Westwood Memorial Park, tucked improbably behind a commercial strip on Wilshire Blvd, is the final resting place of Marilyn Monroe, Natalie Wood, Rodney Dangerfield, and dozens of other entertainment figures — a surprisingly moving and uncrowded site compared to the more famous Forest Lawn.

⛵ Marina del Rey / Venice
Marina del Rey is the largest man-made small-craft harbour in the United States — a beautiful waterfront community of yacht marinas, waterfront restaurants, and luxury apartments that sits at the southern edge of Venice Beach. The marina's main channel is lined with sailboats and motor yachts, and the waterfront promenade connects seamlessly with the Venice Boardwalk to the north.
Guests staying in Marina del Rey or the northern Venice area are genuinely steps from one of the tour's most popular stops. The Venice Boardwalk, Muscle Beach, the skate park, and the Venice Canals are all within easy walking distance — making this zone one of the most desirable locations for guests who want the full beach experience alongside their city tour.
About the Area
The marina's Fisherman's Village — a New England-style waterfront shopping and dining complex at the end of Fiji Way — offers boat rentals, paddleboard rentals, and some of the best waterfront dining in LA. Dinner at one of the marina-side restaurants, watching the boats come and go as the sun sets over the Pacific, is a genuinely special LA experience.
Abbot Kinney Blvd — named after the founder of Venice — is just minutes from the marina hotels and is consistently rated one of the best shopping and dining streets in Los Angeles. The weekend farmers market on Abbot Kinney is excellent.

🏄 Santa Monica
Santa Monica is arguably the most desirable beach city in Los Angeles — a self-contained urban environment with world-class dining, excellent shopping, beautiful beaches, and a palpable sense of place that many larger LA neighbourhoods lack. Bounded by the Pacific to the west and the Santa Monica Mountains to the north, the city has a natural endpoint to its geography that gives it a coherence rare in sprawling LA.
The city is anchored by three distinct commercial areas: the 3rd Street Promenade (pedestrianised shopping with street performers and restaurants), Montana Avenue (an upscale neighbourhood shopping street with boutiques and cafes), and Main Street (a more relaxed, slightly bohemian stretch connecting Santa Monica to Venice).
About the Area
Santa Monica Pier — one of our tour stops — is walking distance from virtually every hotel in this zone. The pier's Pacific Park amusement rides, the solar-powered Ferris wheel, the aquarium, and the end-of-Route-66 marker make it one of the most photographed locations in California. The beach itself is excellent — wide, clean, and well-maintained, with excellent facilities.
Palisades Park runs along the clifftop above the beach from the pier northward — a beautifully maintained park with ocean views, mature palm trees, and a rose garden. It's one of the best walking routes in LA and gives guests staying nearby an excellent morning option before their tour pickup.

🏖️ Venice Beach
Venice Beach is one of the most iconic and eccentric neighbourhoods in Los Angeles — a collision of beach culture, street art, bodybuilding, skateboarding, and creative energy that has no equivalent anywhere in the world. Founded in 1905 by developer Abbot Kinney as a replica of Venice, Italy — complete with canals and gondoliers — the neighbourhood has evolved through a century of reinvention into something entirely its own.
Guests staying in Venice Beach are living the full California experience. The boardwalk is steps from most hotels in this zone, Muscle Beach and the skate park are on the doorstep, and the Venice Canals — a magical network of waterways lined with beautiful homes — are just blocks inland. Abbot Kinney Blvd, one of LA's best streets for food and shopping, runs through the heart of the neighbourhood.

The Venice arts scene is world-class. The neighbourhood has been a magnet for artists since the Beat Generation writers gathered at the Gas House coffee shop in the 1950s, and the tradition continues — murals cover entire building facades, galleries cluster around Abbot Kinney, and the annual Venice Art Walk is one of LA's most beloved cultural events.
Breakfast at one of Venice's excellent cafes before your tour pickup is highly recommended. Gjusta on Thornton Ave is one of the most celebrated bakeries in Los Angeles — arrive early, the lines form quickly. The Saturday farmers market on Abbot Kinney is also superb if you're staying over a weekend.
